The UMPC and MID segments still look blurry, there is no clear division line for their screen size, capabilities, processing class and power. (continued)

So the Canon Rebel XS/1000D seems to be arriving to compete with the cheap lineups of the likes of Olympus, Sony, Nikon and Pentax. I have already written my feeling that going lower than the 450D/XSi is not a necessity for Canon. (continued)

Imagine working like a dog for months and finally finishing your Friday work to board the plane to your much awaited holiday destination. But while having a peaceful flight with your wife and getting a nap is in your best intentions, people around you are speaking ceaselessly on their telephones. To the point that you cannot concentrate to even read or eat. (continued)

Steven Spielberg walks the Cannes red carpet for the first time after 22 years for the occasion of the new Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. And guess what! He considers digital cinema inevitable. Really? Here is what he said on digital or not digital:(continued)

On the 1st of June photographers will peacefully protest in LA for unreasonable treatment by LAPD and LASD while taking photos in the metro and public places.
I applaud this move and I think there should be similar action in every country because there is cases of police harassing photographers for non-existent reasons in many countries and places. (continued)

In part 1 of this series I concentrated on why books and publications have in general not become the target of online piracy, at least nowhere near the levels we see for music or movies. In this second and final part, I will discuss what determines whether a publication will become the target of online distribution. (continued)

In the same fashion that the Olympus E-420 replaced the E-410, now comes the E-520 to replace the E-510. As expected, improvements are incremental and overall the E-520 is a better product with better developed features and additions: (continued)

The fact that large jumbo jets are almost exclusively designed and built by Airbus and Boeing is not a matter of simple chance. It’s a business that requires massive resources and experience. Not even Japan dares enter that arena -it prefers components or small aircraft. China however has now decided to enter the commercial jet business and to build planes with more than 100 seats. It is a question that comes up naturally, especially when the music and movie industries are in such turbulent times. In many ways, worrying about book, magazine and newspaper content online so late, is the source of a strange feeling. Thinking of all information as data, text and pictures require less data volume and storage space than audio information, which is in turn just a fraction of video data.So how come Internet piracy started from music and not text? Being an entrepreneur means continuously searching for new opportunities and trends that will pay off in the hopefully not so distant future. IT is the classic playground for risk capital opportunists, and has indeed paid off for some of them quite handsomely. Earth2tech has a list of 25 successful IT entrepreneurs that have now turned to environment related technologies.
The list includes many categories, from transport -for example we have talked about Shai Agassi and his Project Better Place venture in Israel and Denmark- to energy production with sun and wind. Given that IT is still big money, it is a surprise that people that know this market well, risk capital in a sector that has less guaranteed earnings.
